Becoming a parent has shaped my political life and ultimately pushed me to run for office. She was entering a world right around the time of Trump's inauguration. I got more politically involved in that moment. When Parkland happened, I started calling our elected officials. The local reps. did not return any of my phone calls and my congresswoman's answer was to arm teachers. I knew my daughter and all the other kids deserved better than that, so I decided to run for office.

If elected officials spread misinformation on their social media accounts their constituents might assume that that information is legitimate. If their constituents believe that the 2020 election was illegitimate, they might choose to not vote in future elections or even encourage others not to vote. They might also no longer trust the government or the democratic process.
