I stay pretty busy running a nonprofit that focuses on rural LGBTQ youth- running for office just wasn't on my radar. I've lived in this community my whole life and am deeply committed to the people here. But when someone asked me to run, I realized there was a necessity for people to step up and fight for what's right, and decided to do it.

Shared a December 2020 Facebook post by an election denier who falsely claimed that Joe Biden is not the president-elect and that “the enemies within are in the middle of an attempted coup”.
In a November 2020 Facebook post, Johnsen claimed there was cheating in the 2020 presidential election, providing a link to the website for Great Lakes Justice Center, a law firm that used conspiracy theories as evidence in court filings related to the 2020 election.
Invited people to participate in a January 6th “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, DC in a December 2020 Facebook post.
